Cherry blossoms

Yesterday at a small local park the cherry blossoms were in full bloom.

And despite the rain and wind and the temporary return to end-of-winter weather last night, the trees down by a little river near where I work were still holding out today.

Thanks for the pics. My friend just sent a long email talking about the cherry blossoms, so it is nice to have an image to go along with his words.

These are not particularly wonderful cherry blossom trees, in the sense that they're not famous and people don't come from all over to see them. Just a few in a park, and alongside a river. But they are lovely, and enough for me. I wasn't going to brave the crowds to see the 'famous' ones.

The whipped cream effect is the lack of focus, but I'll pretend I did it on purpose. (Actually it was windy and that front branch in the first picture wouldn't keep still.)
