Cheep

There's a fat, fluffy little sparrow that has been sitting in the tree outside my room for the past couple of weeks. It spends most of the day there, chirping. Here's what it seems to say:

"Cheep. Cheep. Cheep. Cheep. Cheep. Cheep. Cheep. Cheep. Cheep. Cheep! cheep! cheep! Cheepcheepcheep! Cheep. Cheep. Cheep. Cheep. Cheep. Cheepcheepcheep! CHEEP! CHEEP! CHEEP! CHEEPCHEEPCHEEP! Cheep. Cheep. Cheep. Cheep. Cheep."

And here's what it's REALLY saying:

"Mum. Mum. Dad. Dad. Food. Food. Food. Mum. Dad! Dad! Dad! DadDadDad! No, wait, that's not Dad. Dad. Dad. Food. Food. Mum. Mum. Mum! Mum! Mum! Food! Mumfoodfoodfoodfood! FOODFOODFOOD! Thanks. More? No? Mum. Mum. Dad. Food. Dad. Dad. Dad. Food. Food."

ALL DAY.

Who would be a parent?

It's funny watching adult birds interact with their adolescent offspring. The adults react just like human parents do: Losing their patience and insisting that the darned brats go get their own food. And the adolescents are like human teens: *whine* I don't know hoooooooooow! You feed me! *whine*

The best way to get 20 seconds of quiet it to open the window and shout at the top of your lungs "CHEEP!"
This confuses the hell out of the small bird, who then mentally resets and goes back to his cheeping 20 seconds later.
This has the added downside of making everyone within ear shot think you're nuts. But I say its worth it, especially if you can see the lil bugger's expression when you do it :D
